I wanted to find a fun relatively clean way for Elijah to get his egg decorating on. I spent a couple minutes on Pinterest looking, and found this melted crayon method over on Spoonful. Parents had some good ideas too, but I wanted something a little more creative than stickers on eggs. Plus I was hoping for little to no prep since my eggs were already boiling and nap time was looming.
It was super easy, basically just boil the eggs and then get to decorating. The directions say to use white eggs, but I had brown and the crayon showed up great on them.
I let the eggs cool for a few minutes, because they were real hot. Elijah did great at listening to directions and didn’t touch the eggs with his fingers after I told him they were hot. So he kept repeating, “Eggs hot mama. I color it with colors.”
I just left all the crayons in the box so he had his pick of colors. And no, he cannot write his name already, Dad.
We may still dye the the usual way, but that mess will wait until Daddy is home to help.
This melted crayon technique is Eli-Approved. Enjoy!
