Elijah Oscar is Two.

Last week, my baby monkey officially became a toddler.  Maybe it is because we have a tiny newborn, but Elijah seems so big now.  He is genuinely a little person and it surprises me every day the things that he says and understands.  I love Eli’s little personality; he is a real goof ball sometimes, but such a sweet boy.  Here are some cool things about Elijah Oscar as a two year old.IMG_0310

He loves books.  There are currently books scattered all over my house, because he picks one out and carries it to another room to read it.  His favorite book is “What Does the Fox Say?”

He sings.  a lot.  He requests his “bible songs” in the car.  Well, its more like he demands them.  He sings in his bed at nap time and bedtime.  I hear him singing quietly while he plays with his toys.  Sometimes I can make out the song, “What Does the Fox Say?” or one of the songs he learned at church are his usual ones.  But I think he makes songs up, too.

He likes to be helpful.  He asks to help with the dishes, or will put things away.  He brings things to Emaline when she is crying.  He lines up my shoes next to the door, with their correct match–he is so much like RJ…

He loves his Wegos.  For those of you who don’t speak Elijah; Legos.  And maybe “love” isn’t a strong enough word.  He is obsessed with Legos.  We watch youtube videos of Lego construction every day.  every day.  I hear the lady’s voice in my dreams.  It is ridiculous.  His imagination amazes me.  He will build things with Legos and tell me it is an airplane or a castle or a motorcycle.  He will sit and play at his Lego table, all by himself.  Unless Daddy is home.  Then he needs to have Daddy with him.

He, suddenly, has become a picky eater.   Gone are the days where I can squirt ketchup onto his plate to make him eat whatever meat is present.  I really hope the picky eater thing is a phase.   Please, God, let it be a phase.

He is very into trains.  My parents bought him a small train set for his birthday and it has been in the center of my family room ever since.  I’m lucky that he will play with it while I nurse Emaline, so that I can keep an eye on him and he is occupied.

He is still all about Michael Jordan.   We even bought him mini Jordan sneakers for his birthday.  And he was so excited.

I’m sure there are a million cute things I am forgetting…but I have a two-year-old monkey on my lap pressing keys and a three-week-old monkey who is probably ready to eat.  again.

About jessgrune

I'm Jessica. I am a wife and a mama. My husband, Rj, is a youth pastor who just began seminary this fall. Our baby boy, Elijah, is almost two and he is the coolest thing I have ever made. In February we will be adding a baby girl monkey to our family. I love doing crafts, shopping for good deals, vacations in Disney World, naps, and playing with my monkey. I have more fun picking out clothes for Eli than I should admit. I wish I spent more time reading good books. And I really miss sleeping for more than 4 hours at a time, but I am told this will happen again...one day.
