Our January consisted mostly of staying home due to the freezing temperatures and ridiculous amounts of snow. This has been great for the whole potty training adventure, but not so great for making plans, or having any sort of socialization beyond the monkey and mama duo…
Here is a mini-recap of our month–according to my Instagram feed.
Daddy wrapped Eli in a towel after a bath one night, and he thought it was the coolest thing ever. Mama thought he looked too big and almost started crying.
My little man is very into Jake and the Neverland pirates. I bought a Jake costume on clearance after Halloween and we gave it to him for Christmas. He likes to sing the theme song and yell “yo ho.”
Elijah Oscar is also big into hiding right now. He hasn’t figured out the whole staying quiet part of hiding…but that only makes it more adorable.
During one of the super cold days, I felt that we needed to make a Costco run. Eli was clearly freezing. But since there were about a dozen people in the store besides us, he had the run of the store and was loving it.
We have spent many afternoons cuddled in “mama’s bed” playing or watching shows on the Disney Junior app. Eli loves to be lazy in bed with me.
Our family room can get quite chilly, so we dress in layers. And wear hoods indoors.
This was my birthday. We ate tons of tasty food. I bet he would like it to be my birthday everyday.
For awhile, he was playing with this plastic chicken wing often. Silly monkey.
We ventured out when it got a little warmer. And by warmer I mean 15-20 degrees. I took him to Starbucks and let him pick out a treat. Then we sat by the window and watched cars and trucks and he pointed out every “birdie” that he spotted.
I am signing him up for swim lessons at Aqua Tots. We took a trial class there and he was so excited. He loved every second of it…except the seconds where the instructor dunked him underwater for the first time. He wasn’t a fan of that at first (or her for a few minutes after). He did great overall and I am excited for him to start classes in March.
Sometimes he knows he has to poo, but gets impatient sitting on the potty. This is when I resort to the iPad. And Youtube. And “What Does the Fox Say?”
How cute is his skinny little butt in underpants?
Sometimes, when he plays with Buzz or Woody it makes me super sad. I think of Toy Story 3 and how Andy leaves his toys to go off to college, and I get all teary. But we will just blame that on the pregnancy hormones.
He spots a coin and yells “money!” and pulls his little chair to the dresser to put his money into his little buggy bank.
So we did have a few adventures in January.
